I did it!!

So, I did actually finally finish my routine. Also, I got a 5 on the exam :D now I'm finally finished with all things psychology :)

I've decided to add rifle to my routine and an now done writing all work but one chorus so I should defiantly be able to post the entire routine by Tuesday, but I am aiming for Monday :)

I found I picture of a body roll that can be done with the flag that I am going to attempt this weekend. Hopefully I can succeed with minimal injury :)

Over The Years

As my senior year is coming to a close I have been looking back over some old pictures and then it hit me, I won't be able to spin for a guard for almost two years once I graduate. So, I have decided to post some pictures from throughout my four years on guard. Working down from senior year to freshmen year.

Banquet

Tonight is the Senior Band Banquet, but I won't be going :) Thankfully yesterday we got the last of our plates done. Also yesterday, I made more progress on my new routine. Now all that is left to be written is the very beginning and the chorus.
I'm hoping to have the entire thing done by Monday so that I can post a video.

Tonight I found the last few pictures needed for the plate awards so they will all be getting finished tomorrow :) I'm excited!!

Awards

Yesterday we only managed to finish three plates completely but they are all coming along really well. These are two of the ones we finished yesterday 

Awards Time

Next week is the senior band banquet, meaning that I now have to work with the other two captains from this past season to create an award for each of our eight members. We are going to start working on the plates during common time today and hopefully I will be able to post some pictures of a few of them. After the banquet I will post pictures of whatever senior award I receive from Mr. Gibbson and the drum majors.

Rewind

Yesterday I was looking through my pictures and found all of the ones from throughout my high school marching band career. Looking over them I was reminded of why I joined guard in the first place and of all the memories I have made just from my past four years of guard. I even found the video of the first full routine I corographed for my band exam. Hopefully soon I'll have pictures or a video clip of my current routine posted.

I have also found a new song ("Raining" by Art of Dying) to write to when I get stuck on "Monster You Made" and it may just be my next goal instead of "Underwater."

Progress

So yesterday I made progress on my routine for Monster You Made and now have the work done for two versus :)

Insight

Today I finally decided to write down my routine as it is written along with the song lyrics. Hopefully now I can actually remember what I'm trying to do and can price everything together.

The Best Part

Today I got to experience what to me is one of the best parts of guard, teaching someone how to do a new move :) especially when that someone is Cameron and you have Andrew helping. Cameron was interested in the new routine I'm writing and wanted me to show him how to do one of the tosses in it, he finally got it, but not as quick as Andrew. It didn't matter though because to me teaching someone how to do one of the moves is always the best part of guard because you can see the look of accomplishment on their face when they get it.

Next Routine

I have finally decided on the next song I plan to choreograph a routine for, Monster You Made by Pop Evil. This song should be simple enough to write a routine to that I can teach my younger sister who wants me to teach her basics and how they work together to form a routine since she just made the guard for next year if she doesn't choose to go the the Early College.Video link for the song Monster You Made

My Expression

When I first began guard it was just a way to not have to play my flute in marching band, but it became something more when it expanded my network of friends and it reveled that I had a natural hand for it. Over the past four years guard has been my outlet and now that high school is almost over I was planning on one last  performance with my senior buddies but sadly I don't have the time to write a new routine. But I am still working through the routine anyway and using that as an excuse to help teach my sister :) Thanks to her I will be able to continue on with guard, which is amazing since it is my way of expressing myself even when we are in the heat of a marching season. I will post images from the work and the routine and hopefully have the song posted that goes along with it.
